Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Team Leader

Department / Location: PPC / Austin, TX
Reports To: Director of Paid Search
Position Type: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

The team leader oversees strategy for more than 40 PPC clients across a variety of channels and mentors at least two analysts. The team leader creates long-term strategies, delegates to the analyst team, and upholds the highest level of service for Leverage Marketing’s client base.

Duties - Account Management:

  • Responsible for the success of 40+ paid search clients – measured by standard KPIs, as well as client retention rates.
  • Mentoring junior analysts to improve team-wide expertise, performance, and efficiencies while ensuring analysts are abiding by best practices.
  • Consistently hitting deadlines for client deliverables as needed, including: monthly reports, tasks, and strategy documents.
  • Maintaining and promoting effective interdepartmental communication (verbal and written) with strategy and development (SandD). This includes communicating both positive and negative performance trends.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of monthly reports. Reports are delivered to specification and on deadline, maintaining the highest standards of analysis and professionalism.
  • Developing all necessary strategy documentation for new and existing clients. The team leader determines all project timelines and assigns appropriate deadlines to the analyst team.
  • Effective prioritization: balancing client needs with available resources to achieve client objectives.

Company Contributions:

  • Company Blog: Contributing to Leverage Marketing’s PPC blog once per month.
  • Vendor Assessment: Assisting in the selection of company tools and software by occasional product testing and meetings.
  • Team Building: Contributing to employee reviews and performance evaluation to help strengthen the department as a whole.
  • Industry Events: Team leaders are to attend industry events when possible. These may include both national events with travel accommodations, as well as local community meetings.
  • SEO: Ensuring SEO reports are reviewed and understood by the PPC team so that resources may be aligned more effectively.
  • Innovation: Contributing ideas for improving Leverage Marketing’s PPC offerings and helping to drive innovation.
  • Elective Component: Each PPC team leader identifies a field of interest that is not directly associated with PPC. This interest may be social media, newsletter dissemination, design, community involvement, cultural growth, etc. This component is subject to the approval of the director if it is to be considered during performance reviews and within the context of this description.

Performance Indicators:

  • Overall success and growth of new and existing clients. Success is quantified by client retention rates and performance metrics.
  • Meeting and exceeding deadlines for deliverables, including reports, client-requests, strategy documents, and quarterly updates.
  • PPC Certification Schedule: Each team leader is required to complete the following exams within the first 6 months of employment. (This exam schedule is subject to change with the industry):
    • Display Advertising Advanced Exam
    • Reporting & Analysis Advanced Exam
    • Google Analytics IQ Test
    • MSN AdCenter Exam (adExcellence)
  • Elective Component: The aforementioned elective component is strongly considered during performance evaluations and salary reviews.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Google AdWords Fundamentals and Advanced Search Certifications.
  • Minimum of 18 months, hands-on PPC account management experience.
  • Experience managing multiple accounts that spend more than $150,000 / month (or $1 million annually).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Kenshoo, project management, and web analytics is highly preferred.
  • Superior multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
